Location Strategy Internship, Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, CA, Summer/Fall 2024About the Role & ProgramAs a Location Strategy Intern, you will support the Area Location Strategy Team in defining the strategic direction for the merchandise shop in your line of business using financial analytics for decision-making.
As the Location Strategy Intern, you will have the opportunity to build leadership skills as the liaison between the onstage Operations team and the Merchandise teams, ensuring the priorities are aligned and communicated.
We are a focused team that enjoys working together to develop and implement retail location strategies that exceed financial expectations and provide the best shopping experience for our guests in every retail location they visit.
What You Will Do
Support the Area Location Strategy team to define the short-term and long-term strategic direction for the merchandise shops under your responsibility.
Strategies are defined using guest data, product strategies, operational feedback, and financial data.

Analyze reporting on current business.
Adjust tactics to address business trends.
Review weekly and monthly reporting and build/communicate action plans to lead performance.

Develop the retail location strategy, supported by an analytical foundation, to uphold the retail master plan (rehabs, store closing/openings, and new concepts).

Provide property-specific strategic feedback to Merchandise Strategy & Merchandise Planning teams at important quarterly breakthrough meetings.

Develop the floor plans and product flow calendar in partnership with Merchandise Presentation.

Handle site-level communication as the link to Operations teams for agreement and execution of assortment strategy.

Quarterly, review upcoming product strategies and select items for each merchandise shop.

Promote property strategies for seasonal mix changes and events in partnership with Product Strategy and Visual Presentation.

Focus on the big picture and create the vision for new opportunities, while building the case to support.

Present to cross-functional team members.
Required Qualifications & Skills

years of experience focused on leading strategic development, concept development, business development, and financial management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of merchandise planning, merchandise financials, forecasting, and trend analysis
Merchandising skills
Excellent relationship, partnership, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Ability to focus on big-picture vision.

Proven ability to meet high-reaching deadlines
Proven ability to set priorities and timelinesPreferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Financial Planning SoftwareEducation
Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Retail/Merchandise, Math, or a related field.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR have graduated from a college/university within the past six (6) months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Possess unrestricted work authorizationAdditional Information
Be aligned with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
Ability to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 - January 2025
Ability to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) Monday - Friday, for the duration of the internship with possible evenings and weekends if necessary
Must provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Anaheim, CA area
Must have reliable transportation to/from workRecommendation
