Job Summary
JOB TITLE: Director of Group Sales
REPORTS TO: Director of Sales & Marketing

BASIC PURPOSE: Support the Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) in the handling of group sales activity in the hotel to achieve optimized opportunity in support of hotel profit objectives.
ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: Position is responsible for maximizing revenues and occupancies from group sales leads and for coordinating efforts of the Room Sales Team operations in conjunction with the DOSM to ensure optimal use of resources to achieve budget. Deputizes for the DOSM in his/her absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manage group inquiries, determine suitability for the hotel and review opportunity at Daily RevMax to respond to clients in a timely manner. (40%)
2. Develop and continually enhance relationships with all business segments to include corporate business, travel industry, community organizations, professional associations and media, for both current and potential clients to maintain and increase awareness of the hotel and to grow our market share. (15%)
3. Manage Human Resources in the division in order to attract, retain and motivate the employees; assist in training, developing, coaching hotel staff on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue. (15%)
4. Implement company programs (IHR/Starwood) and manage the operations of the division in a manner consistent with IHR's policies and procedures. (15%)
5. Maintain awareness of competition, market trends, customer needs and comments in order to help develop new plans and programs and determine the potency of current plans and programs. (10%)
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (5%)
1. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task force and
committees as required.
2. Conduct property tours.
3. Inventory sales collateral.
4. Participate in the hotel's Quality Program.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Five years within the hotel sales discipline. Department head (ie.- Director of Group Sales) position for at least two years. Must have experience in partnering with local CVB and contracting large citywide business.
Skills and Abilities:
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities.
Make decisions within the standards of the position which can impact more than one department, but usually not more than one hotel. Only general policies and procedures are available for guidance and superior is kept informed only of general direction of assignment.
Requires studying, analyzing and interpreting complex activities or information in order to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
No. of employees supervised: 2-4 employees.
Travel required: Local travel required on a weekly basis. National and international travel may be required a minimum of four to five times a year.
Hours Required: Forty to fifty hours over a five day period.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
