Speech Language Pathologist-CF

SLP Job Description
Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the State of California, or eligible.
Must have valid CPR certification within the last year.
Must have a completed physical examination from a licensed physician within the last year.
Must have a negative TB skin test within the past year OR a clear Chest X-ray within the past five years.
Entry-level to Experienced.
Physical Requirements:
A. Ability to bend, reach, or assist to transfer up to 50-100 lbs.
B. Ability to stand and/or walk 80% of an 8 hr. shift.
C. Visual and hearing acuity to perform job-related functions.
Job Summary
Provides Speech-Language diagnosis for patients/residents with communication disorders and swallowing deficits, treatment planning & implementation, as well as preparing reports detailing progress. Consult with rehab team in order to coordinate the most effective Speech-Language program.
Reports to: Speech-Language Pathologist(s), Director of Rehabilitation, CQI Designee/Mentor, Regional Mentor.
Supervises: May be responsible for the care delivered by SLP-CF
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides differential diagnosis for patients/residents with speech, language, swallowing disorders. Provides written reports to both contracted facility or agency and patient/ resident's physician.
2. Establishes and carries out treatment programs on the basis of the diagnostics information available which will meet the patient's functional communicative needs.
3. Educational instruction to the patient/resident, family, and appropriate restorative personnel regarding the communication disorder to facilitate recovery.
4. Interacts regularly with other members of the rehabilitation team and nursing staff on the patient's treatment plan, progress, and prognosis.
5. Develops appropriate home and community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the patient in their environment.
6. Terminates service when benefit has been achieved.
7. Maintains good rapport with all significant administrative and restorative nursing personnel to facilitate good communication and coordination of treatment program.
8. Assures that all required written documentation is completed and appropriately placed on a timely basis.
9. Complies with established agency standards and evaluation compliance.
10. Submits logs and all billing information on a timely basis.
11. Reports any problem areas within each facility to the appropriate supervisor immediately.
12. Comply with the State Licensing Board of California, Title 22, CMS, and California Labor Board Guidelines.
13. May perform other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
