Summary of Role:

The Commissioning Technician II is the field representative performing system activation for newly installed photovoltaic systems in a set region. This role includes setting up communication between rooftop, ground-level equipment, and troubleshooting systems. This position involves managing a high volume of residential and multi-family zoned projects and works directly with various stakeholders and teams as needed. Documenting the quality of a system installation is required to ensure commissioning can be done efficiently.

Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:

  • Commission residential PV systems
  • Complete on-site diagnosis of systems
  • Use phone-based applications to perform real-time site reports
  • Identify/coordinate/observe work completed by sub-contractors
  • Document time/workflow with schedulers and supervisor
  • Successfully complete assigned training/qualification requirements
  • Prepare reports/communicate to stakeholders in real-time to provide updates on commissioning activities
  • Perform procedure development/best practices for safety and quality
  • Access/document electrical distribution panels and other equipment safety
  • Remove/add breakers and production CTs in the main service panel
  • Access rooftop to identify/troubleshoot issues

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • 2
    years of solar installation, troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • Ability to read/interpret one-line drawings and electrical schematics
  • Understanding of wire and conduit sizing
  • Experience using laptops and phone Apps/troubleshoot when working on set URLs and Apps
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written/verbal
  • Valid driver s license with a clean record

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate a customer service approach when listening/responding to requests
  • Ability to communicate the status of work activities and issues with peers/management as they relate to projects and tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with a CRM-like salesforce
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • CPR certification
  • Fall protection training certification

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to traverse/maneuver job site and survey/assess all aspects of the construction process for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb a ladder onto a roof, walk across a roof, and install equipment to roof safely
  • Work in outdoor conditions: inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens
  • May be exposed to energized electrical equipment/construction chemicals and will be required to take appropriate precautions.
  • Employee may handle work equipment and be required to lift, move and install materials up to 50
    pounds
  • Noise level varies depending on location
  • Able to use and learn standard construction equipment/technology with proficiency
  • Typical work hours are M-F in 8-hour shifts, potential weekends
  • Must hold a valid driver s license and travel between warehouse and job sites
  • Visual acuity to drive motor vehicles/mobile equipment/read printed and electronic documents
  • Hearing capacity to receive/perceive/react to driving/construction environment noises
  • Hearing capacity to receive/perceive/react to verbal commands/warnings

Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, a 7-year driving history report, and a drug screen.
